What kind of sugar do you buy? I have C&H and according to the nutrition facts, serving size is 1/4 cup and there are 30 servings per bag which calculates to 7 1/2 cups.

I agree with the 7.5 cups of sugar in the bag

Most of the 2lb bags I have used.....and even measured them out before are around 7.5 cups per bag. Might depend on what brand, etc.

Sifted or unsifted? I would guess you could come up with anywhere between 7.5 and 8 cups depending on how packed the sugar is. I would guess that is why is it sold by weight.

It is 7.5 cups. If you convert the serving size it comes out to 7.5 cups. That makes 1 pound of ps 3 3/4 cups. I'm a wilton instructor and I always make a point of telling my students this because in the class books it says 1 pound of ps is about 4 cups. The problem is that if you take 4 cups out of a 2 pound bag and then later dump the remaining of that bag thinking you have 1 pound left, you'll be short. So, I say either buy the 1 pound box, or measure out 3 3/4 cups, or make a double batch. Of course my prefered method is to weigh it.
