Hi. I have been in search of a cake club in my area, without any luck. I am considering starting a club in my area. How do I get started, what types of things go on in the meetings? (Since I have never been to a cake club meeting before). Any information or literature you can direct me to is most appreciated. Thank you!

ICES has information on starting a cake club. I can't remember the web address but maybe someone else here will post it.

Speaking of ICES.. Does anyone know this:
Do you HAVE to be a member to go to one of the ICES convention?? I really want to go to the one in Grapevine this year.. After reading their website, I'm confused.. I just want to be a guest..I dont want to submitt a cake or a sugar piece. I just want to browse.. Any ideas!

As far as I know you don't have to be a member to go the convention but if your not the tickets cost more.
Other than that, I don't know any particulars.

Heather

Hi: That's correct. Anyone can go, but if you aren't a member and the membership is $60.00. The ticket to get in cost more.

Do you want to just view the cakes and nothing else invloved with the convention? They usually have a public day or two for people to come in and look at the cakes. I want to say it is $5 to $7 for the pass, and the money usually goes to a local charity (I believe). There is also a one day pass for the Vender's room for $50 I think.

If you are wanting to attend any of the demo's or such, then you are better off joining ICES as you will pay less.

Hope this helps!
