Besides working one full time job, a part-time job, and making cakes I find time to make floral arrangements as well. Here a few pics of the arrangements I made in August. If you look at the pics of my wedding cakes, you'll see the cake with the blue roses, these flowers were for that wedding. icon_biggrin.gif

You are one busy person.

As my husband says about my hobby--I waste too many hours sleeping, I could be doing something!

How great is that - making the cake and being able to do the flowers also! I am jealous because I never seem to be able to arrange flowers in a way that I think is nice, depsite the fact I know the basics behind it. Congrats on two jobs well done!

bodaisy-
the first picture is lovely. Couldn't see the second one.
Since you have some experience with flowers, can I ask a question?
I am making a bridal shower cake in a couple of weeks and wanted to put silk flowers on top. I bought silk hydrangeas and some small white flowers to add in to the topper. I also want to put a couple of butterflies on florist wire so they look like they are landing. My problem is the I'm not sure what to stick them in...florist foam or should they be wired all together? Do I have to surround the "ground' with foil to keep the cake safe. I' lost.

I haven't done any flower arranging so I'm no sure where to start.
Any suggestions?

thanks in advance

Hydrangeas are pretty big flowers right? You can stick them in the cake, that's not a problem. Just make sure the stems are cleaned good. I think if you used the foam they would be too high up. How big is the top of the cake exactly???

Your flower arrangement is beautiful! I'm just getting into flowers. The brides/groom's are happy when the cakelady does cakes & flowers. That helps them out big time!

Don't go anywhere because we will need your help & advice! Again, pretty!!

Yes, the flower is like a big snowball so it will take up much of the cake 's top( an 8 inch round). I was just worried about if falling off if set on and the ugle hole it will leave if pushed into the cake. icon_confused.gif
If you say stick it in the cake, then that's what I'll do.

thanks for the advise.
