Hi y'all!!!
Maybe you already know about this but I just discovered a great new way to smooth out my cake batter. Plus I read somewhere that to help prevent the middle from doming to push the cake batter out to the sides. Well... Here's my great new discovery. I filled my pans as usual with cake batter and I was trying to push it out to the sides while smoothing (it was a think batter). Well I wasn't making very good progress so what I did was spin the cake pans with the batter in them. It was sooooooo cool!!! The batter instantly smoothed and push itself out towards the sides!! Presto!!! icon_biggrin.gif

Great idea. I'm going to try it on the next cake I make. Of course with my luck it'll probably spin off the counter on to me and everything else in my kitchen. icon_confused.gif LOL

I just took the cakes out of the oven and they turned out beautiful!!! There was a slight dome but nothing like I usually get and the sides are very nice icon_smile.gif

Hahahaha! Ya'll girls just make me laugh so much here. My luck it will do the same. LOL.

Yeah, I heard of that on another post. I never tried it, but I will now. Thanks Susan for letting us know your little expirement. LOL.

What's your thing, Susan, on getting the little bump down after taking out of the oven? I push my down with a paper towel and it works for me. Although, I have heard someone say here that they put a pan on top of the finished cake and put a can of corn or something like that in the pan. They said it works great! I have to try that too. LOL.

I love Cake Central-there are so many to help here. Alot of tips and tricks also. Thanks to you all who CARE! thumbs_up.gif

When I try this I'm going to have to make sure my dh isn't around to snap pictures in case I end up wearing the batter. icon_redface.gificon_lol.gif

gosh - I think I have the opposite problem with baking cakes. mine SINK in the middle! in fact, I've actually resorted to mounding the batter in the middle in a desperate attempt to account for it! HAHAHAA.
