Help Quick - What Else Does This Need?

It's missing something - has to be delivered tomorrow at 9am
She asked for:
"10" cake with map icons like perhaps a compass rose, a section of a map-US or European is fine, an airplane, a palm tree and if you could, perhaps something architectural from Greece."
Got it all, but feel like it needs "something" to finish the cake. Ideas?
They are, but only with IM BC, so I could technically move them - I am thinking I should just print another edible sheet or more postcards and another map maybe? Maybe little dotted lines like the plane flying around?
nothing - boring, I did put a small shell boarder at the bottom
I must be tired, brain's not very creative right now! ![]()
Maybe you could make the plane bigger and have it say "Jan Air" with a banner trailing saying "Happy 75th"
This might sound like a dumb idea but what about putting some of the signs around the bottom and maybe the one that says Happy Birthday up so it would not be lying down and is posted up. I think it looks great though.
are they stuck down?
if not, could they be arranged to allow adding message:
"spanning the world to wish you...."
Doug,
With reading all the posts, I'm constantly impressed and amazed at your continuous great ideas. Your creativity is astounding. Thank you for being such a great role model on here along w/ point of inspiration to me.
I love the concept, but IMO you need dimensionals. How much time do you have? Instead of a photo of a palm tree and the Greek temple, could you do them in gumpaste? Have a few Greek columns sticking up from the surface? How about a spyglass?
I like mkerton's idea of a dotted line - like dashes you'd see in a kid's book like Winnie the Pooh showing where someone walked through the Hunderd Aker Wood. Ties all the other elements together.
And I meant to tell you that I love the marbleized fondant!
I like it just like it is. If you were to add ANYTHING, I would add a thin rope border (not thick) - perhaps in the two colors you have in your compass rose.

My thinking too but I would add a simple, single red rose.
I was thinking maybe waves with a drawn (with BC) palm tree on the side. I've made a cake with waves and palm tree using BC and edible photos It was well received.
You guys are great - thanks so much for the suggestions, just knowing someone else is out there looking, thinking and supporting makes things a little easier.
You all had great suggestions, I do wish I had more time to do more 3D work. I added a few postcards, made the birthday postcard bigger and added the dots. Works a little better now.
I should have asked for help first - it would have been even better!
Thanks again everyone!
Laura
Yeah it looks great now shame you did'nt have time to do any 3D work but you will know for next time.
I love the edible images have'nt quite made enough money jet to by the printer, one day in my wishes.
Thanks for the great ideas though. Hope they like it.
I love this cake!
It looks perfect!
My hubby is a seasoned world traveler (so are the rest of his family) so this gives me great ideas! How did you do the pictures? Postcards and compass in the middle? All edible images? If so do you have your own machine or do you have them made somewhere? You can PM me if you want!
Love to hear how much they are going to love this!!
I LOVE IT!!! Love the dotted lines!
I'm sure this cake was very well received by the birthday girl!
I think it looks great and I would not add anything more. Great Job! How did you make the maps and get them folded... ? Is it a photo image transfered onto fondant or gumpaste?
