When using clear bags for cookies I use the fold lock sandwich bags.. I just cut open the side that is folded & put the cookie in the then just tie it with ribbon. They are pretty sturdy & cheap if I'm bagging smaller cookies I just put the cookie it tie it the cut some of the excess bag off. Hope this make sense.
you can get like 200 bags for like $1.

nice...thanks! I am making basketball cookies today and realized I don't have bags. I guess if you use some ribbon ( they were .25 at Michael's) to dress them up, that can be really cute!

Yes the ribbon is what really dresses it up! I just saw another post where someone wanted to find cookie bags but was having trouble, & saw that most of the reply where for the cookie / candy bags. I bought them once around christmas time & they did not fit my snowflake cookies so I had to find something else & I came up with this & that is all I use now & it's inexpensive & you can find them anywhere anytime...

I found sandwhich baggies at Walmart that don't fold over and don't have a zipper seal. They were great and are cheap too. I can't remember the name brand but the box is red and has an aligator on it. I'm sure most stores would have them!

These are a few places that I buy from from my bags and other things too (I make sachets, soaps, candles and lotions too) Baking is my NEW addiction icon_biggrin.gif

I suppose it depends on how much you would use them and if you have any stores local to you.

Thanks for posting this link..

When I emailed them to ask what strength there bags where (as I wanted 1.2m.. as they are stronger)
They advised me that they were closing out the bag division and would not be restocking.. the prices where 4x cheaper than where I was buying them in Canada.. So stocked up to the tune of over 15000 bags... WOW.
Got them to ship to a friends in California and will pick them up there at the end of the month... going to have fun bringing them back on the plane! ha ha..
But didn't want the hassle of customs and duty, etc... if they shipped here. Since I will be down for over 7 days, I can bring them back duty free.. Though I will probably have to pay a small charge for overweight on the plane... still cheaper though.
I just couldn't believe the prices... they are really very cheap! I was paying $12.00 per 100 hundred on a certain size bag, and from the website you posted... I paid $7.55 for 500... thumbs_up.gifthumbs_up.gifthumbs_up.gifthumbs_up.gif
So once again... thank you, thank you, thank you!!! icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gif

What size bags does everyone tend to buy? I love the Wilton treat size as they really fit the larger cookies nicely. Those I think measure about 4 x 9.5

I get so confused looking at all the sizes icon_confused.gif and can't figure out the most versatile one to buy. It seems the longer you get them the wider they become as well.

I did try the fold over sandwich bags and I love the idea but thought it was a pain to cut the flaps up especially when you have lots of cookies to bag and tie.

I have Hefty brand (alligator on the box) and use them for larger cookies that don't fit in the regular bags I have. If they are too large I trim the excess off. No one complains about how they look--they notice the cookie and the ribbon.
