We have had a festival in our town the last few years, so I decided to email the coordinator and ask about desserts for the Great Feast. I got an email back asking me to bring in some samples this weekend. Perfect, since I will have extra cookie dough from a bouquet order that is due on Monday. Anyone have any design ideas? Googling brought up nothing really. I will probably make the zig-zag lightning bolt thingy, but can't think of anything else, besides the eyeglasses, and I don't want to mess with black icing if I can help it.

How about the sorting hat?

An owl like Hedwig would be good, too. Harry's shirt (I'm drawing a blank on the name of the style--rugby shirt?) is pretty recognizable, too. How about a wand? If you wanted to do something impressive, with luster dust, you could do the golden snitch. (You could do a gold circle shape with silver or white pearl wings.)

Oooh, I love the golden snitch idea!!! Didn't even think of that one! I will have to run to the cake store this weekend and pick up some luster dust. Hubby is going to love me for that, since I make him drive with me to the shop. Hee hee.

I love the idea of the shields, but I would have to find someone to make an edible image, and the only place I know of is the grocery store, and they probably wouldn't do it because it's a copyright image.

I will probably make some black icing or try the chocolate to make the glasses. More assortment the better. She can pick and choose what she wants.

The only problem I have now is that she would rahter I drop them off on Saturday instead of Sunday and I won't have time to get to the store and buy the luster dust.

Does anyone know how long it takes to dry? I will be mixing it with vanilla extract and not vodka, etc. I might have enough time if it doesn't take that long.

You could do the 4 house creatures - no copyright problem there. Also you could do a quiditch field, coldron. You could also tie in all the books for a theme...sorcerers stone, chamber of secrets, prizoner of askaban, goblet of fire, order of phoenix, half blood prince. Tak an idea out of each name. I dunno, HTH icon_smile.gif

This is a cake, but maybe you can get some ideas from it. Isn't this the sport they play?

All great ideas, but I am no artist...and I also have until tomorrow and I'm still working at my FT job. Ugh. I might be up all night. I do love all of the suggestions though. I don't want to get too fancy, as there will be hundreds of people at the festival and not sure I could make hundreds of anything too fancy.

Hubby is picking up some luster dust from a cake shop on his way home from work. I better make him a nice dinner!

What if you did half/half of each house color. Red/yellow, green/silver, blue/yellow, yellow/black. With the First letter in the middle. G,S,H,R. An hour glass, for the time turner, the snitch, a wand, lightning, a bottle (butterbeer), A cat, An Owl, a dragons egg, a cauldron, a hat, a sword, a phoenix, a snake, a street sign (Pivet Drive), a book, glasses, a crystal ball, broom, Skull (death eater), Boot (portkey)

Whoa Melody25. LOL!!! You are overwhelming me. It's 11pm and I just started mixing the dough. Yep, it's gonna be an all-nighter. Hubby and son are gone, I'm all alone, and wondering if I took on more than I can handle. I guess I don't know that much about teh movie and will have to look into your suggestions. They all sound great!!

Michelle, they turned out very nice! The comments option is missing on them in the gallery, so I thought I'd come back here to say "NICE JOB"!

Thanks Dawn2467!! I'm so nervous. I'm on my way out the door to drop them off to the coordinator of the festival. I've had a long night and then got a call this morning that my dad was rushed to the ER last night after passing out in the bathroom and hitting his head. He didn't know how long he had been on the floor, was weak, couldn't get up, etc. Thank goodness he had his cell phone in his pocket and called a friend who called 911 after finding him on the floor. Ugh. I'm babbling because I'm nervous and sleep deprived. LOL!!

Thanks for all your help guys!!

The cookies came out great! I like the texture on the golden snitch. I hope your father recovers quickly and that you can get some rest.

I got the order! I can't wait to make cookies for the festival! I'm so excited.

Dad is okay, just sore, cut, and bruised. Don't think he broke anything and don't think anything major is wrong, just got sick and with his blood pressure medication making him dizzy, he went downhill fast. Maybe he will finally listen to my mother, the nurse, when she told him to call the doc and have his BP meds adjusted. Some people's parents. LOL!
