Help, Please On Black Coloring

Can't seem to get my royal icing or my fondant BLACK, can anyone help me, I usally can get it, but tonight it just is staying gray!! icon_cry.gificon_cry.gificon_cry.gificon_cry.gif What is going on?

You might let it sit overnight and it should darken up some. I had a Wilton instuctor tell us to mix black, royal blue and moss green to get black. You might try that.

I have been told for red and black to mix them and let them sit for 3 days, they will get brighter and darker in time.

for black, I always start with chocolate icings so you don't have to use so much coloring. Having said that, I've never used chocolate fondant or royal icing, but I've read on here where people have so there should be some recipes available. HTH

I wish I had 3 days, icon_cry.gif she just ordered this today, and due tommorrow..
I wantted to use purple, I had it all mixed up and ready to go...
but she changed colors... oh well.

For black, I add a little cocoa powder. It doesn't take much. You can add it straight to what you've got.

Ditto. Much, much easier to get a black from a dark base color. Starting from white you'll just break down your icing by adding too much color, mix or kneed for a year and still only get a dark grey. No matter what type of icing I'm using (ie: BC, RI, fondant etc.) I always add cocoa for a true black, it's makes for less time and trouble!
