Hello,
I have read the instuctions on how to make the topsy turvy cake on this site, but I was wondering if you can make this cake without using 3 different sizes for each tier. Has anyone done this? I was thinking of using 3- 12, 9 & 6 and cutting the top at an angle. Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks
You probably could, it just might look like a smaller version.
I'm not sure, what does anyone else have to say??? Bump
I made this same cake (pic in photo album) using just two size layers for each level. Each layer was split in two, making 4 layers per level. With three levels, it was 12 layers high. Plenty tall enough for me, as this was my first. Probably my last, too! LOL
It was very tipsy looking. I didn't use the support system BKeith used for his on this site. I couldn't wrap my mind around it enough to understand it. I DID dowel like a madwoman, though. The bottom two layers had five dowels each in them and I put 3 long dowels through the whole cake, top to bottom.
I think I used: Bottom layer 8 and 9 inch pans, Middle layer 8 and 7 inch pans, Top layer 7 and 5 inch pans. HTH
