Have you guys tried lemon or raspberry in this cake? I am going to be making the WASC for the first time and wanted to put a filling other than buttercream. Just not sure what goes best with the almond flavor.

I use raspberry cream cheese buttercream. It's tangy and doesn't taste like buttercream at all to me.

Chocolate mousse is really good. It offsets the almond taste really well.

Or, how about a nice strawberry filling?

I've tried it with raspberry and I've used the WASC scraps to make cake balls with Lemon Cream Cheese buttercream as a binder and some coconut covered in white chocolate. YUM! Next I'm going to try orange buttercream with it.

Sorry, it took me a while to check back, been busy. Thanks for the tips everyone. I'm thinking maybe raspberry cream cheese that was suggested or maybe lemon curd mixed with either buttercream or whipped cream. Do you think the lemon will be good with the almond flavor?
