Here is my son's Birthday Cake. I can't seem to get the frosting smooth I guess I don't know how. At 6 years old he didn't really care. Here is a funny thing though...I used the wilton spray color and when I blew my nose a few hours later it came out the color I was spraying. Bright green........lol. icon_eek.gif

Thats looks Great! thumbs_up.gif I used the green spray before on a turtle cake and I had the same problem when I blew my nose! LOL! I love the look of the spray, however not to fond of the taste. so I try not to use it very often

That's too funny about the green. icon_confused.gif Cool effect for the kids I bet! icon_lol.gif

The cakes look great!

I have used Wilton's spray on cakes and on the preschooler's pumpkin-shaped sandwiches I was suckered into making. (lightly sprayed) I didn't notice any taste.

So what is the trick to smoothing? It also kept pulling away from the crumb coat

Did you try the paper towel trick? If you have a crusting buttercream recipe, you can frost the cake, let it sit a few minutes, lay the paper towel over and with your hand or spatula, gently rub the towel to get a smooth affect. Otherwise, I have read on this site if you stick your tongue out and move it to the right or left while icing, it helps. icon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_confused.gif
