How would you make sequins? I'm thinking fondant, mmf preferably, cut in thin discs, then put luster dust on them? Just an idea I've got in my head but not sure how to follow up, as usual. Any ideas? Of course you have ideas, let me know. Janice

Janice...your idea is what I'd do too. It would be similiar to the tiled hot tub cake in the gallery. The tiles were cut out of fondant and brushed with luster dusts. I couldn't imagine how difficult it must have been to place all those little tiles! The look was awesome though!

I have made sequins out of fondant. This is what I did:

Roll out the fondant ( or gumpaste) as thin as you can and then use a straw to cut out tiny disks. I then used a toothpick to make the little hole in the middle. Let them dry for a day or two and then put this in a small plastic bag and dump in some luster dust and shake the bag!icon_smile.gif

Once I attach them to the cake I go back in highlight a small area of the sequin with super luster dust to make them really shinyicon_smile.gif

Hi, Jane, this sounds like a good method, and would go a little quicker than some other ways I've considered. Thank you! Janice
