....I made a vanilla cake batter for cupcakes and then once poured into the little cups, I drizzled a melted brown sugar/butter/cinnamon mixture into it?? Do you think it would cook up ok? Would the sugar/butter/cinnamon mixture just dissapate into the batter while it bakes or do you think it might turn out as sort of ribbon going through the whole cupcake?? Or might it just all settle at the bottom in a big glob? lol icon_confused.gificon_rolleyes.gif I'm wanting it to be like a ribbon of yummy stuff all swirled throughout the cupcake, but not sure how to achieve this. Any ideas, opinions, suggestions?? icon_smile.gif

What if you put in half of the batter that would go into the cup, put your brown sugar/butter/cinnamon mix in (by the way, I'd make it sort of a dry crumbly mix) and then the other half? Once you've done that take a skewer and give it a swirl or two and leave it. Mmmm, sounds good from here....

I often use a box cake mix for a cinnamon cake. It is a vanilla cake and the packet to mix in looks like cinnamon and sugar. No butter. I stir it through the mix but not too much and it turns out very well.

cinnamon cake is one of my most requested. I usually use apple filling and drizzle caramel on the top. Good Baking to you

Just wanted to say that the cupcakes turned out great! I added a little bit of rum to the batter and then a butter/cinnamon/sugar crumble type thing the way you suggested, tripletmom. Yummy ribbons of buttery cinnamony goodness all inside!! I'm going to top them off with a vanilla buttercream with bananas and cinnamon and a little whipped cream folded in.....mmmmmmmm! icon_lol.gificon_razz.gif

Wow Jenn...my mouth actually watered reading your description of your cupcakes. You should write for a food magazine! They sound fabulous! I'm glad it worked out for you.

A food writer!! lol Better yet - a food critic!! lol I would get to eat wherever I want and be able to write off the expense! Plus then I could tell yummy stories about everything I've eaten! YEAH! I like that idea, thanks! lol icon_razz.gificon_lol.gif

Here's my description after adding the frosting:

I whipped up some heavy cream with a smidgen of powdered sugar added. Then I made an Italian Meringue buttercream with madagascar vanilla for the flavoring. It adds such a deep, mahongany type vanilla flavor that just makes me swoon! Next, I diced up a couple of perfectly ripe, creamy bananas and tossed them with a slight dash of freshly squeezed lemon juice - to head off that oxidation that inevitably turns them into a disgusting brown mish-mash looking substance. I grabbed the cinnmon sticks and grated them on a microplane - nothing like fresh grated cinnamon in your food! Lastly, I very gently folded the whipped cream, bananas and cinnamon into the IMBC. The combo of the whipped cream and the IMBC is divine! The light, yet rich, slightly sweetened cream is more than delicious with the backdrop of a silky, decadent buttercream. The bananas were softened perfectly once added to the frosting and the hint of cinnamon seemed to heighten their fresh flavor even more. I struggled to get the perfect bite - one with just the right amount of the cake with its cinnamony-caramel flavored buttery goodness ribboned inside, along with just the right amount of that sinful frosting swirl. The frosting literally melted in my mouth and left me craving more.

How's that for a description?!! lol icon_lol.gificon_razz.gif (They really are good! Truly tastes like Bananas Foster!)
