Please, some tips from those of you who have applied fondant to a square cake. I've gone to the gallery and have seen all your beautiful square cakes and I don't see a seam. How did you do this. Thanks!

I found that square cakes are easier than round cakes for fondant.

Roll the fondant out, elevate your prepared cake so that the excess fondant will hang slightly, and rest on the table. trim any that might be extra heavy and pull on the cake.

then adjust the corners first, sort of "unstretch" the fondant back into itself. Then trim close to the board.

It does take some practice, and if you do have difficulty and make a crease, you can add a border, a ribbon, or a fondant lace piece to cover it up.

I like to raise my cake up on an inverted cake pan a size smaller. Then place the fondant on the cake. The fondant just falls into place and those extra "pleats" fall below the cake leaving smooth sides. On a square cake, start with the corners and work your way to the middle of the sides of the cake.

HTH!
