Cake Extender??

hey all..i've heard so much about cake extenders and am anxious to try... my husband went out and got some BC butter pecan mixes (his favorite) and was wondering if I could use any extender with this mix or does anyone have an idea of which is best. TIA

the only items in the extender that affect flavor is the pudding mix and extra extract.

so, instead of vanilla extract -- butter extract...

now the pudding is bit more of a challenge since they don't make pecan budding or butter pudding....

but they do make butterscotch and vanilla.

vanilla the safe bet -- butterscotch the daring one.

thanks both of u..cake turned out great..butter pecan is not my favorite but my hubby luved it...gonna try it with a marble or chocolate next time. thanks again.

I even used a box of vanilla instant pudding in a red velvet cake and it really enhanced it. I was surprised it didn't lighten it up, or maybe it did and I don't know it. I've added white choc or vanilla pudding to a lot of mixes and they all turned out wonderful. What I like most though is the enhanced cake recipe. You add flour, sugar and sour cream, etc. Other ingerdients I'm not remembering off the top of my head. Check it out in recipes.

okay, help me here

what's the difference in the cake "extender" and the cake "enhancer"??? Don't they both do the same thing??? Help me ladies with what I am missing!!!! Having a "moment" here!!!

Extenders usually include additional sugar, flour and liquid to extend the amount of batter you get from a box mix. Enhancers are things like additional flavorings which enhance the taste of the cake.

How much more do you really get with an extender. I used one once and didn't notice much.

My extender averages about 2 Cups more batter, roughly.
