Hi

I made a rainbow chip cake mix with my son today around 4pm. I forgot about it and left it on the counter. It has milk and eggs in it. Do you think it is still okay to cook it?

Thanks!

depends on how long you left it out.

I'd say yes, but it might not rise as much as if it had been freshly baked! What have you to lose?

It was left out about 4 or 5 hours

A lot of factors come into play here. The type of recipe, heat of your kitche, etc. etc.

Personally if I have to question something, I toss it out. It's not worth being sick over. Plus the cake probably isn't going to rise properly.

Since you're baking it, probably ok, but can't say for sure. I do know however, that batter left out doesn't rise well. It'll be a very flat cake. You might just want to start over. icon_rolleyes.gif
