Never flavored fondant before -- when do I add it?

Thanks for the tips!

well I flavor my fondant all the time. I just add the flavoring on top of my vanilla. I have used peppermint and Lorann's oil pina colada flavored or lemon or any flavor that you want. It's not enough liquid to make a difference in the consistency of the MMF

When I make my mmf I can never get it to take the full 2lbs of sugar, so when I flavor it I just add a bit more powder sugar....

I just extract or the oils...whatever I have around!

Do you have to add a lot of flavour to get past the super-sweet fondant taste?

You can kneed in the concentrated oils to premade fondant as well. icon_smile.gif

nah not really. you add just the same amount as you would with anything else like 1 tsp or a coupla drops of the oils (a little goes a long way).

Do you know the shelf life on flavored oils? I was cleaning out a drawer and found a strawberry oil, unopened, way in the back. I don't remember buying it, so who knows how long its been there!!!

Can anyone tell me where to buy these oils? I live in a tiny town and I've never seen flavour oils around here.

Craft stores have a small selection, for a huge selection you have to go to a candy/cakes decorating store. I f there are not any around you, try online. "Lorane" oils I feel work the best, but there are some other brands...
