Well, I think I have to come up with another name. There is currently a a cake in the new contest with a link to the maker's website which is TanyaCakes. So I won't be able to use that one. I have had my name on here like this for a long time. But now that I know there is a website out with that name-not exactly, but may as well be-I think that I may need to change. Mind you it is our common name. And I seriously doubt that we could be mistaken with our cakes-she is far, far superior to me I am willing to admit. But I wouldn't want any confusion later, you now. Now I am really bummed!! Can barely decorate and now I have to change my name, too!!!

Oh, you shouldn't worry about that. There are so many members on this site that you can't help but run into similarities from time to time. Look how many Stephs and Jenn's there are in some of the names...I have to look at the avatar a lot of times to make sure I'm replying to the right person. Now if you're talking about making your own website, you may want to make it a little more unique because there are millions of Tanya's out there.
I wouldn't change your name on here. It was yours first here. 
If you have a website or do a business later on, then you can always do something different. But I wouldn't give up your name on here because someone else uses something like it for a website.
I pondered a few names when i got my dba. one was Cake Walk. Sassy Cakes. None of which were taken. They were names that no one else had.
I personally wouldn't want to wait for it to be a problem; since one day when you get good enough, it will be. And then all your customers and everyone you know will have to learn a new name. And that is just a lot of mess; rather than straightening it out now; and reserving a name that later may be gone.
Thanks for all the advice guys. I think I am going to start looking soon. Since she is posting her cakes here and likely to start posting in the forum, too. I mean there is only 1 letter's difference between the 2 names. But I just want to be separate, you know. Thanks again.
