Okay I need some suggestions...

I'm down here in southern Louisiana, and it's March, so the humidity is setting in nicely. And it seems like this "cooler" humidity is worse than when it's 98 degrees and humid! Everything fondant (bows ect) is sagging. I have gumtexed everything, but NOTHING is holding it's shape well. My poor bows that WERE hard yesterday have actually softened up! I have a shoe that needs to go on top of a pillow for tomorrow and I just know it's not going to ever set up. Any suggestions. Would gumpaste set up quicker? Does it hold up any better to humidity? How is it that something that was hard is soft now!?!?!?!?!? icon_cry.gif

Oh I so sympathise with you! I have my A.C. on full blast for 9 months a year. Sorry I can't be of any help other than that. Good luck!

I have read where some people have used a food dehydrater to dry out the decorations. Maybe you could give that a try.

sarahnicole:
I live as far south in Alabama as it goes (maybe another 5 mins and your in the water) and I definitely know how frustrated you are!!!!!!!
When I know it's going to be humid, I've started putting gumpaste with my fondant for decorations (bows, etc.).
I have on 2-3 occasions, put the A/C on!! At least until the cake is finished and out of the house!!! A/C on in Feb!!!! icon_cry.gif

I'm thinking about taking up gumpaste (GA here), but I really don't want to. Someone on another thread said to put it in the over with just the lightbulb on and it would dry it out faster.
