I'm trying to smooth out a cake using the Viva paper towel method. It's not working! Am I doing something wrong?

It looks like it may be working a little, but it's taking forever. Does this generally take a long time?

I've tried going over it with a paint roller...fondant roller...my hand...The icing is still not as smooth as other's I have seen.

Any advice or help is appreciated!

what type of icing are you using?? The icing needs to "crust" to get this to work. Maybe put your cake in the frig for a bit to let the icing crust up a bit.

If you're using BC, try this:

Keep a pan of boiling water on the stove with your spatulas in them (I usually use 2). When the spatula is hot, dry it off, and go over your icing. Stick it back in the pan of boiling water and switch with the other spatula.

Hope this helps!

I use a squirt bottle and spray a VERY little water on the frosting and smooth with a clean spatula and it has worked great for me all types of frostings but I haven't tried it on fondant. Good luck!!
