When using Ganache, do you pour it over icing or directly on the cake?

That's entirely up to the individual. Some pour it over the cake and some pour it over the icing. I've done both

Thanks. If I pour it on the cake, will the cake become mushy?

No it won't
Have the bottom of the baked cake the top where I pour the ganache. I use loads of ganache and always end up with smooth and level finished product. Also if you are the least bit worried you could crumb coat it first. Just make sure your ganache is not too hot or it will melt your crumb coat

I have only ever poured it directly onto a cake or filled a cake, but never over icing. Maybe I will give that idea a go.. although does it not detract from the beautiful flavour of the ganache??? icon_confused.gif

The only icing I like to pour it on is whipped ganache or some sort of other ganache. It just keeps adding more and more flavour. You gotta love ganache!!!!!!!

I usually frost ganache directly on the cake. After I apply simple syrup actually. Comes out smooth for me!
