I have a cake order for tomorrow and I'm not too excited about what they want. The birthday girl is turning 18 and her mom wants a cake with different things she likes. She loves shoes, purses, her cell phone and the color pink, any ideas??

Oh yeah, her mom said it has to be a sheet cake so my idea to do a fun and colorful tiered cake is out - blah!!

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

That last one Eliza posted looks great for the occasion. Is she expecting 3-D figures? If not, maybe an FBCT would do the job.

I love this cake and have it saved in my fav's just waiting for the right occassion to try it....I could easily see this incorporated into a sheet cake with writing on it.

or I could see doing a cake like this (only using a 6" round to cut in half--so you dont end up with gobs of cake) to put on top of a sheet cake....I think it would be really cute.

Here's a pic you could use as clipart for an FBCT:

I think I know what I'm going to do now!! Thank you everybody for the ideas, I think that I'm going to use mkerton's idea of the purse cake and put that on top of the 12x18 sheet cake. Then I can still easily incorporate the cell phone and shoes. I have never done anything with gumpaste (and I'm short on time) so for the shoes I thought about using rice krispy treats and shaping them into shoes, what do you think?? Crazy? Maybe I could do that for the cell phone, too. I don't want anything too heavy.

The whole cake is going to be White Almond Sour Cream. Do you think that the purse would be too heavy on top of the cake? Am I even making sense?

don't forget to wrap the cake drum in pink maribou! It dresses up a cake and really ramps up the fun factor! You can get it at most craft stores.

I did it! Here's the cake I came up with. I'm pretty pleased with the way it turned out. The birthday girl's mom came to pick it up today and LOVED it.

Thank you again to all of you that gave suggestions and a big thank you mkerton for helping me out so much and to gourmetcakes - I based my purse cake off of one of hers.

Thank you Steady2Hands! The mom loved the cake and she said I was crazy for going to all of that work. She said her daughter is going to be very excited, too. I can't wait to hear what the birthday girl thought!
