Hi! I just did my 2nd paid wedding cake, and I'm too excited!!

This is not even done yet....the florist still has to put green hydrangeas in between the layers at 4pm (if too early, the hydrangeas will start to wilt). So I took a picture anyway, just because the cake came out nice and straight. I just couldn't wait to share it!! I feel like it was a success. I promise to post pictures of the cake completed as soon as it is done!!

It actually went very smoothly this time. No problems with the baking. I had a chocolatier do the curls for me, and although I had to painstakingly apply them to the cake, they seemed to hold up well. (they are very delicate to work with). When I go back to take pictures of the hydrangeas on the cake, I will just re-glue a few of the white choc pieces with icing, but aside from that, it went well!! Also, I love the reception hall; it is a very classy and elegant country club, and no matter what direction you take the picture, there is something beautiful behind the cake. YAY YAY YAY!!! Ok, just happy and sharing! Here it is:

That is cool - never saw a cake with chocolate curls like that. Can't wait to see it with the flowers. Congratulations on completing this cake!

It looks awesome!! Absolutely gorgeous!!!

Did you put the curls on before traveling or once you got there? I know you questioned that. It really came out well!

Thanks!!!!!! No, I put them on last night. I did have extra curls and an emergency repair kit. Only a few fell off. Hopefully, they'll still be in tact by 4pm, and more so by 5:30 when the bride gets there!!

Ok, well, here it is!!! It's done!!! I couldn't be more pleased with the results. The hydrangeas really look beautiful!!
I had to do some emergency repair on the chocolate curls, and add quite a bit of them to the cake, but overall, I'm happy with it, and I hope the bride is too!!

Oooooh I likey!!! Very pretty cake! Smart move hiring a chocolatier to make the curls for you, was he/she reasonable? I've always liked this style, but haven't seen too many decorators do it. thumbs_up.gif Thanks for sharing the photo!

Thanks again! Actually, the chocolatier was very reasonable. He only charged me 40.00 for the chocolate and labor. It saved time, believe me!! I didn't have time; this was a last minute wedding (they ended up having 2 weeks to plan!!)

Thank-you!! I feel particularly proud of this one. The venue was a country club, and the background of the cake was beautiful; it came together. The bride and groom recently lost a very close family member, and I felt especially compelled to get this right! I hope they are happy with it!!
