If you are making gumpaste flowers or fondant flowers.....how far in advance can you make them? How do you store them properly?

they can be made weeks ahead. they should be stored away from light and dust. Keep in that some fondant colors will fade badly, especially purple, blue and some pinks. Gumpaste seems to hold color better.

I don't use fondant for flower making but gumpaste flowers I have sometimes done months in advance. They would probably keep for years as long as they were stored out of moisture, humidty or dust. Also from sunlight, as they too will fade in time. Nice thing is you can re-dust them if they do.

So an airtight tupperware container in my back store room would work then ... whoohooo

Gumpaste flowers can be made and stored up to a year in advance (which is especially good if you have a really big wedding cake order!)icon_wink.gif Just place in cardboard boxes (they breathe as opposed to plastic boxes) with lots of white fun foam to prevent breackage and store away from heat and light.
