I have seen several recipes for chocolate cakes (which have very good reviews), which require coffee as part of the ingredients. I cannot stand coffee (even the smell makes me gag!), so I was wondering, can you taste the coffee in the cake, once it is cooked?

I *think* you can substitute a chocolate liquer for the coffee in chocolate cakes. I'm not sure if you can still taste the coffee though.

No, the cake doesn't taste like coffee. The coffee just enriches the chocolate flavor.

We don't drink coffee at home either, so I just keep a jar of Sanka(instant coffee) in the cupboard to make a cup for my cakes.

The coffee just enhances the flavor of the chocolate. You cannot taste the coffee.

the only time i tasted anything was when i told my b/f i needed a cup of strong coffee, & he double brewed it thinking that would help! icon_rolleyes.gif
I really hate coffee aswell, so i wasn't a big fan, but all my recipies say that you can substitute milk if you are still leary of using coffee.
