Hello I have just made my first batch of gum paste and Im not sure what to do now. Im trying to make a handle and spout for a teapot cake that Im trying to do. Is there a good step by step book or site on how to shape gum paste into objects. i have seen alot of molds but how to do 3d type objects. Any info would be great.
You just kind of wing it like clay and play doh. Find a picture of what you want and try to make it out of your gumpaste. Remember that things like handles and spouts take a few days to dry, and they should be dry before attaching to the teapot or they might collapse on themselves. Good luck!
I was toying with the idea of buying the Wilton gum paste flower kit and teaching myself as there are no classes around here. Have any of you tried this kit and what do you think of it? Are most of you self-taught in gum paste or do you have classes locally to take. Thought it would be a good challenge for myself for a summer project (besides my normal outside gardening).
