Losing Don Knotts is like losing a member of the family. I watched Andy from the time it came on the air and have watched the reruns for what seems like a hundred years. I can't even pick a favorite. One of my favorites was when the two women came to town to see Andy and Barney and they couldn't get rid of them. Also loved any that involved Otis, the town drunk.

The episode that stands out for me is the time Andy was trying to go on vacation and left Barnie and Gomer in charge and they kept doing the "Citizen's Arrest". That just cracks me up. There were so many great story lines on that show, it is hard to say which was the "Best".....Isn't it amazing that a show that was so popular almost 50 years ago has influinced so many generations!!!!

I never was an Andy fan...nothing against it but I just never liked it too much. I do remember a few episodes that I watched as a kid tho, and I loved Don Knotts...and as you said the town drunk. I remember DOn more tho as "The incredible Mr. Limpett!" when I was growing up and I caught it one Saturday afternoon...I was in heaven ( back b4 all the digi enhanced stuff we have now, that was state of the art!) a funny movie AND cartoon !!! I loved that ...he made an awesome fish! Also in the " Apple Dumpling Gang"! He was a happy memory from my childhood.. He will be missed. ![]()
I love to watch the Andy Griffith show. Barney cracks me up. My favorite episode isn't so much Barney as all of them together. It's the Pickle canning episode. Just the look on their faces when they have to eat more of Aunt Bea's pickles. My sides hurt just thinking about it.
BTW-- I tried my hand at making dill pickles. My DH took one bite and he had that same look the first time Andy and Barney bit into 'em. He now refers it as my Aunt Bea canning period.
My favorite was the one where Barney had to dress up like a bride to catch Earnest T. Bass.
I have so many favorites!!
1) When the 3 female escaped convicts hold Barney and the Barber (what's his name ???tip o my tongue!) hostage.
2) When Opie is real small and he is going to get in his first fight (tear jerker!!).
3) When Aunt B. wants the bedjacket for her b-day (nother tearjerker) and Andy gets her jelly jars.
4) When they try to give that farmer an immunization shot "I know how hot I am..Dang hot!"
RIP Barney!!!
Barber's name was Floyd. Googled Andy Griffith Show and came up with this website that tells all the stars. Lots of pics and a tribute to Barney. You guys are bringing back memories of all these episodes. Thanks! ![]()

Wow, there are so many funny ones. I like the one about the goat in the shed that eats the dynamite. Barney goes in the the dark shed and lights a match to see what is in the shed and it's crates of dynamite. I haven't seen that one in years but Otis is in it.

They showed a clip of the goat and Barney lighting the match on the Today Show this morning. It was a hoot!
I also thought of the one where Otis put the vodka in the water cooler at the jail and Barney kept drinking it. Wish I had that old water cooler!

Don Knotts was from Morgantown WV which is about 20 minutes from me. He went to high school with my DH grandmother. We have a street called Don Knotts Bvd. He was certainly a special man who made alot of us laugh through the years. He still had ties to the area and we have been seeing alot of interviews with his friends from here on our local news. He will be greatly missed.
