I can fully understand. I am so excited about the inserts, and the cupcake inserts. They have inserts for up to 3 dozen cupcakes!!! That is just awesome. So far i've only been able to find the plastic ones, but i'd rather get some that are easily recyclable!!!

Just tell him to look at how many pounds the box is and how much money you SAVED on not having to pay for shipping!! icon_lol.gif

Geee with the 5 boxes that came today, 1- 13 pounds, 18, 32, 19, & 21!
OMG!! That is 103 pounds!! I cannot even imagine how much it would have cost me to ship all of that!!

Thanks for sharing, those little boxes and inserts are really cute. I try to give my good customers a little something for their birthday. An individual cupcake would be great.

Oh man, I LOVE Big River, and I just figured out recently that they are like 40 minutes from my house. icon_twisted.gif I wonder if they have sales where they get rid of 'extras' or something. icon_twisted.gif Their prices are good, and how can you argue with NO shipping? Awesome!!

Good Lord, is that actually what it costs to ship something to australia, or is that a company's pumped up version of shipping and handling?

Hey Nati, aren't your parents going to the USA soon. Have it shipped to their hotel icon_wink.gificon_wink.gif

Excess baggage might be a problem though icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

I knew I recognized that picture! They're in Clinton, IA, where I lived. Those are the bridges in South Clinton, the south bridge (higher) and the train bridge (lower) going across part of the Mississippi River.

Forget shipping, I'll be picking up!

Actually Z, I talked to the company president the other day and he said that people are welcome to stop by, check out their products, and meet the staff, but the best way to order is online. He wasn't really clear if they WILL NOT let you buy it in person, but he said... well, here's what he said...

Hi Melissa,

The most efficient way to purchase is with a credit card through www.BRPBoxShop.com. You are certainly welcome to stop by our facility to see samples and meet the wonderful people at Big River Packaging. Our address is 823 South 3rd Street, Clinton, Iowa. We are right behind the Hy-Vee food store just two doors down from the Gateway Bridge on highway 30. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Warmest Regards,
Bob Simpson
President

As you can see, he didn't say you cannot buy in person, but how would you take that?

boonenati - ugh.. I know all about shipping to Australia. I worked for an export company for 10 years and next to Japan, Australia is one of the highest priced places to ship too!! Was wondering if the $270.00 was just the shipping charge (was it by ship/water or by regular mail??) I bet they also probably didn't tell you about all the extra import charges that you would incur as well.. Australia has one of the tightest regulations for importing anything.. even if it's for personal use.
If you want to PM me, let me know how they were going to ship it, I might be able to get you a lower cost, just due to the fact that I know a few companies that will ship what we call LCL (less than container load).. it might take a while to get there but it may be cheaper.

It looks like the white/brown boxes are pretty good, but I would watch out for the white/white boxes. I ordered some in the 8x8x5 size, and they are rather flimsy. I don't like the side tabs either, they are really small and could come apart easily. I think from now on I'll only order the white/brown ones.

Has anyone ordered full sheet boxes? I was wondering if the bases are corrugated cardboard or just the standard cake box paperboard.

Foster, you will love them!! I order everything from them now because the prices are fantastic, and they are SOOOOO nice!! We stopped in one day to get some foil cake boards, and she brought me out a sample so I could be sure it's what I wanted. I ordered a big box of them and some other stuff too! I have a storage area full of their products now!! LOVE THEM! They have been so kind to me that I tell everyone to order from them. And how can you beat low price PLUS free shipping? HELLO!? That's a no-brainer! hahaha! Good Lord... I sound like I work for them, don't I? But any time I can find a local business that has all the important factors like this one, I advertise for them! Word of mouth is one of the best, isn't it? So... buy, buy, buy!!!

Edited to add: When we stopped by there, my 2 year old was just a-flirtin' with the receptionist/admin asst. and she was so cute, playing peek-a-boo with him, etc. It's so nice when people act like HUMANS, you know? (Of course, my little guy is so cute... who could NOT flirt back? hehehe)

I can not wait until I move to a larger place so I can have storage for their boxes. I have put off buying them b/c I have no where to store them. I am so looking forward to making a roadtrip to them and see everything they have.

I love the free shipping. They added mini cupcake inserts earlier this month and I just love them. My mini cupcakes (2oz souffle/fruit and nut cups) fit perfectly in them.
