How long should I wait to let the buttercream iciing harden before I smooth it with a papertowel?? I don't want to do it too soon and have it come off on the towel, and don't want to do it too late and not get the right effect.
any tips and advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Tania

i do finger poke method.

stick to finger or feel mushy--- too soon

big chunks crack apart --- too long

no fingerprint and barely any cracking (more like little hairline fractures -- just right.
