Well thanks to Shirley icon_twisted.gificon_lol.gif I now have a new found hobby. Collecting cake plate pedestals. I've been buying them left and right.

So I was wondering who else collected them or had some nice ones. If you do will you post photos so I can see them. If you did a cake them that would even be better.

Also, do you ever sell a cake and use them but ask for them back or only use them for family/friends that know they can't keep them.

Where do you normally get yours? How many do you have?

When you buy them do you get them with a cake in mind or buy them and then design a cake just for them?

This could be a fun topic............don't you think?

I buy them when I can. I just got a white wire scroll with the four taper candle holders on the sides. This was purchased second hand for $5. The girl used it once for her friends wedding. I am excited to get more though.

I have a few, and i usually pick them up if they are cheap. I like clearance sales the best. The last one i got is a small christmas one that has a ribbon candy shaped pedestal on it, really cool. I just wish that i had a wedding that wanted these as center pieces cause a winter wedding with these would have looked soooo cool, but i only bought one cause i didn't have the need for the whole lot of them.

I got my first cake pedestal on sale on Craigslist. I got it for $15! It was in an old box but the pedestal looked new. It even had a sticker on it with Krosno as the brand. Is that a good brand? icon_lol.gif I'm so clueless. It's just a simple glass pedestal but I think that would work fine if you have a very intricate cake to go with it.

Hee Hee, I've hooked another one! Okay Girlie Girl pm me some pictures, I want to see what you have found. I only send my cakes out on the pedestals if I am also a guest at the party. That way they come home with me safely.

I think the majority of mine have been gifts from family and friends but of those I have bought, most are from eBAY. I think at last count I had 25.

I have wanted to start collecting these too!!! The only thing is that my husband has already said we are going to have to add a room just for cake "stuff" so I am afraid to bring anything else into the house!!!! Might have to sneak one here and there!!

I've just started collecting them! For now, I only have 4 so it is manageable. I happen to have empty space between the top of my cupboards and my kitchen ceiling so that is where I keep and display them for now. I just have a simple clear one with cover (nothing fancy - was on my wedding registry at Target), two milk glass ones and one that my mom did a mosaic top on for me as an Xmas present. But I like to look online for unique ones.

I have a couple by accident. Did not want to start a new collection of anything. I get them from place that have them on sale. I don't buy in for any type of cake... Just for color & style. I do want to buy some in a 6" or smaller.

My collection started when my great grandmother passed away. My mom had gone by her house with the rest of the family so that everyone could get something of hers to remember her by. I had just started decorating and my mom thought I'd like her glass cake plate-and she was certainly right. It is really beautiful!

Shirley,

I don't know if I should love you or hate you. icon_lol.gif

I've not received them yet so I can't send a photo. I bought them off ebay. I did get the cherry one like you have (searched and searched then finally found it) I got a Mary Engelbreit one, one with hanging hearts that looks a bit like a Mary Engelbreit one, One with roses that look like the rolled fondant roses, one that is all white but square with a design on it and one blue with flowers.

I want to bid on one that has carrots on it as I'm wanting to do the Debbie Brown bugs bunny cake with the carrots all around it and the cake plate would look darling but I think I better wait until I get these before I buy any more.
