I used the DH DARK CHOCOLATE FUDGE cake mix with the wilton half crisco half butter buttercream ( I made it into chocolate buttercream though, by adding cocoa powder), and it was the very best chocolate cake and chocolate buttercream combination I have ever had. I made it for a family dinner at my house for my mother's birthday, and everyone was raving about it! I just wanted to share it with everyone because it was so good. I am a chocolate lover, and I am very picky about my chocolate cake and chocolate icing. This is my new favorite!!!! It is worth every calorie it has!!

I will second that...chocolate is my absolute fav! How could you ever have too much chocolate??? the chocolate icing recipe on the back of the Hersheys cocoa box is good too...matter of fact, so is the cake recipe.

I made one of those chocolate fudge cakes this weekend for something at church, with chocolate buttercream dream, and whipped choclate ganache filling, and that cake was gone!! That is a great chocolate cake.

If you like that icing then you should try the Buttercream Dream Icing, it is even better. I used the 1/2 butter, 1/2 Crisco for awhile until I tried the Buttercream Dream, I'll never go back. My cake tasters love it!!

Marcy11 - Did you make the cake just as instructed?

I keep looking at this cake at the store but I'll have to get it next time.

Thanks!

Hi Marcy,
Did you use just the mix or did you use the Extender recipe? I need to make a chocolate cake this week. Sounds like a good one to try.

I just made a chocolate cake for my friends birthday. It seems that when I add a small pkg of chocolate pudding, it is so moist! I love chocolate!!

However, on my last cake, I tried the Wilton Chocolate BC recipe and did not like it at all!

Hi everyone,

sorry it has taken me so long to reply. Yes, I used the cake mix just as the instructions say. I do use a heavy hand when pouring the oil though, but not too much extra. I made it again to bring to work, and everyone there loved it as well. I will try the buttercream dream chocolate icing as well. Thanks!!!
