OK I've seen some ( ok lots) of cakes with what LOOK like gold piping on them, very shiny not just color gel. Is it like Gold dust mixed in the buttercream

Or is it piped in royal icing then painted on? Just curious. I know you CANpain the royal icing. But if thats all it is what is it painted with to stay SO bright like gold???
