I don't think Wow is what I want to say but I don't know what to say! That is amazing. I have to agree with Steph95, it looks like a light cover you purchased. Your icing, fondant is extreemly smooth, the colors are perfect your fruits......
Well you get the hit..... a true artist.
Fantastik job!

Thank you sooo much for all of the compliments, they mean a lot! I should have posted a pic of the plate that inspired the idea. The way I did it was to start with MMF, then etch the design, then go over the sketch with black lines, using food coloring, then painting everything with food coloring, it was probably the painting that took the longest. Then I made the grapes, leaves and flowers with MMF! A cool trick to covering a square cake in MMF, is to measure the sides, then cut out squares to match each side, then cover the corners with some sort of pillar, if that makes sense, to fill in the gaps. Anyways, Im takin a cake break!!!!!! Im exhausted!
You never cease to amaze us with your cakes!!! This one is absolutely wonderful!!!
You really must tell us your secret to making this MMF work so well for you. Do you add anything to it to help make it so straight and flat? Are the panels dried in advance and then assembled on the cake?
Please share!
It's a beautiful cake...I'm just wondering...when you cut the sides and etch in the design do you let the mmf pieces dry before you start to paint on them....
First off, I have to say, I LOVE MMF!! I dont add anything to it, just the water and marshmallows. But in the process of rolling it out, I use plenty of powered sugar, to make sure that it is not too pliable. With this cake, I did cut out the squares and let them dry out a bit, and then did the etching. By the time I began painting, they were dry enough, that the food coloring adhered very well. Experiment with MMF, you can do so much with it!! Oh, and this is a dummy cake! I would love a reason to make a real wedding cake, but nope, dont have one yet!! I was suppose to make one in April, but that fell through!
What a stunning masterpiece. You are very talented.
