First Cake Topper.........honest Opinions

Okay, I just finished putting together my first cake topper...... man...... (now I know why I made my girlfriend do the one for my wedding).
Anyway, all gumpaste flowers and leaves except for the dried babys breath.......... any hints/suggestions that someone more experienced can offer????? What do the rest of you use for the bottom? (mine is a Cool Whip top) What do you use to secure it to the cake?
Not really in love with the ribbon she picked out, I think it gets lost because it's sheer. but it's her cake. (she has the same ribbon only wider and wired to go around each tier)
