If you put a cake covered in fondant in the freezer when you bring it out, it will turn all gummy and tacky, looking quite unpresentable. If you need to freeze the cake, I would do it before you cover with fondant.

I had to freeze a fondant covered cake once, and it turned out OK. I covered the fondant in paper towels (to absorb any condensation) and wrapped it very tightly in saran wrap. It came out fine - but it was an all white fondant. I don't know what would have happened if I had colored it.

I would avoid doing this if you can help it - but the one time I had to, it came out OK.

Yes you can but when you take it out just leave it and the moisture will reabsorb but DO NOT touch it. I myself do not like anything frozen except peas and icecream but my cake teacher told me you can do this especially if you turn over hundreds of cakes

I've frozen fondant cakes and they came out fine. When thawing, just don't touch it or let anything else touch it. If it has multiple colors, becareful, they may bleed onto eachother.
