I've been reading this forum for some time now and first off, I want to say HI to everyone here and hat down for the beautiful cakes you create. It looks like a different dimension to me for now, hope I'll be able someday to get half as good as you icon_smile.gif

Now, I want to apologise for asking stupid questions but there is just too much information on this forums for me to process and my time is too short.

My mom's birthday is in 3 days and I want to make a beautiful cake for her. I'm going for chocolate cake with vanilla filling and chocolate icing, cause she just loves chocolate. But I also want to make some decoration- a few BC flowers, so I need a recipe for BC for flowers. Now, I just need to tell you that I live in a place, where you can't find most of the stuff you have in the US so I'm pretty much stuck to just butter, sugar and flavours. Don't want to use raw eggs also. Please, please help with ideas icon_smile.gif

Welcome to CC! icon_biggrin.gif

Do you have access to shortening? If you do, this is a good recipe to start out with. I'm sure someone else on here has a recipe that is just butter if you don't. Good luck!

Welcome to CC! I know you will love it here and find lots of helpful people.

Have you looked through the recipes here on this site?

Can you get merigue powder? Maybe not for this cake but maybe you can order it to have for the next?

I am sure someone with more knowledge will answer you soon.

Thanks for the warm welcomes icon_smile.gif
Unfortunately I don't have access to merigue icon_sad.gif And I am not very sure what shortening is exactly?
I'm tryng to learn everything alone because there are not decorating classes, shops, very few books and almost none of the tools you use... it's quite frustrating really...! icon_sad.gif

Although I am terrible at making flowers...I think a crisco(shortning icing) would work best if you have access to it. Another option would be to use something else to decorate with. Does your mom like fresh fruit or chocolate covered strawberries??? I think chocolate cakes look wonderful with fruit on top. You could also do a pretty design with some drizzled melted chocolate.

Just some brainstorming...good luck on your cake! icon_smile.gif

thanks for the ideas, traci. Actually I thought of these things but just wanted to do something different. And to warm up before the end of the month when it's my aunt's 50t birthday. I especially wanted chocolate covered strawberries but their price this time of the year is outrageous and I can't effort them

welcome to CakeCentral! I'm sure you will find lots of help here.

I guess some of us take for granted having the ingredients we need at our fingertips most of the time. Shortening is a a solid form of vegetable oil, and will hold up better than butter in warmer temps. Most of us use it to make our buttercream icing. I use half shortening/half butter. You will want to make it pretty stiff to make roses. Wilton.com will give you step by step instructions for alot of different flowers.

Good luck to you, and don't forget to post pictures!

Sherry
