I like the recipe that uses 1/2 butter and 1/2 crisco. I like to flavor mine with mexican vanilla and a little almond flavor.
1/2 cup crisco
1 stick butter
4 cups sugar
1 tsp mexican vanilla
1 tsp almond
half and half to thin
I think that's a question we'd all like the answer to! I'd suggest just gather a few recipes and keep trying them 'til you find one you like. I like the one from Whimsical Bakehouse and I'm going to try Toba Garrett's Decorator's Buttercream next. I don't like really sweet buttercreams but I'm looking for something to use in place of IMBC .
There are also a ton of great recipes here in the recipes section. It's just a matter of test and taste.
Good luck!

I agree about the Whimsical Bakehouse recipe. Simply gorgeous buttercreams. I, however, have a tumultuous relationship with buttercream . Fondant and I get along soo much better
Thanks for the help, guess it just take time and a little luck to find the perfect one. !!
