I just tried the melvira method (smoothing frosting with the high density foam roller). Worked great but I kept getting small little (tinny, tinny) strings or fuzzies, don't really know what to call them. I washed the rollers well before I used them. I did sqeeze them dry with a white towel then air dried so maybe the fuzzies came off of it. Anyway, If i soak them in water will this help? Has anyone else had this problem.

Thanks,

Natt

Yup, I've had the same problem too!!!! I think these rollers must attract all the little fibres floating about in the air when they are drying (and, yes, my house is clean!). I just use the tip of a tapered palette knife to remove them and re-roll - it drives me nuts though!!!

Thanks bonjovibabe. I was going nuts my self, using tooth picks then rerolling. I did a light yellow cake yesturday and today I did a bright green one and did see as many fuzzies. so maybe the color helps hide it? Thanks again for letting know I'm not alone.

I did it for the first time today and actually used parchment paper in between instead of the viva towels. It worked great! My roller wasn't even a very good one..... no fluffies icon_smile.gif

I get it too. I ended up using parchment paper in between.

I'm just wondering if the buttercream you were using was crusted enough. I haven't had the fuzzies problem, but then my buttercream was well crusted (but not crunchy!)icon_confused.gificon_biggrin.gif
