I'm making my first cake in a novelty pan....how long should I let it cool before taking out of the pan?
Also....I sprayed it and floured it...it will come out of the pan...right? I don't need that cake release stuff?
It should come out of the pan just fine!!! I've had no problems. I would let the cake cool a bit longer before taking it out. Just to be on the safe side. That's what I do! I wouldn't let it cool completely though. Just longer than 10 minutes. I've been nervous using the spray/flour combo on my character pans. That's just me though!

I wait about 10 minutes. If you prepared the pan properly, the cake should release without any problem. Hope this helps. Good luck! Don't forget to share your photos.

I would follow the instructions that came with the pan. If you don't have them I would just bake at 325 for about 40 minutes but check starting at 25 mins.
Someone else might have more experience with character pans and might suggest that 350 will work better but if you are unsure, I would try 325 so you don't overbake.

I bake mine on 325 and I use cake release on the novelty and 3D pans.
I would start checking about 25-30 minutes.
NEVER FEAR...IT RELEASED FROM THE PAN!!!!!!!!! You have NO idea ...ok maybe you do ...how happy I was that it came right out with no problem.....although the more it sits and cools the more I get anxiety that maybe I can't frost it!!!
I usually wait 15 min before removing it from the pan. Flour and spray should be fine but I do love the cake release for character pans.
one tip that I might suggest is use a flower nail as a heating core. I made one for christmas and had to use the nail to get it to bake evenly
Glad your cake released fine. I use the homemade cake release and have not had a cake stick yet. It is just equal parts Oil, Crisco ( I melt mine to mix) and flour, mix together well and keep in a air tight container. Give a good shake before use. I keep mine in my old Wilton cake release bottles, this works just as well as it. Got the recipe from this site can't remember now who it originated from, but a real big thanks to whoever the originater was !!!
