I don't know how you make the stuff at the bottom of each tier; what is it called? icon_confused.gificon_lol.gif

And what type of flowers are those and what would be the easiest way to make them?

Are you talking about the white ribbon? It looks like fondant. You can make your own or buy some pretty embossed ones. Or, you can use real ribbon.
I don't know what kind of flowers those are.
I'm not sure if I was helpful or not! Sorry!

It looks like a strip of ribbon made out of fondant at the bottom of each tier. I would roll out the fondant and use a ribbon cutter so each one is exactly the same width. I can't see the flowers very well and can't tell if they are small flowers clumped together or something more 3-D.

Do you know who made the cake? If it is someone on here, try pm-ing them. Good luck-it is beautiful!

I think the strips are just fondant..... REALLY easy to do....... The flowers look like hydrangeas....... probably also of fondant.....

Thanks everyone- yes- ribbon! icon_lol.gif So will there just be a connection point? Could I use a pizza cutter?

Yes lsawyer, you were very helpful. Thanks tiggy2.

It's from www.dianescakesandmore.com and I'm not sure if she's a member.

So, any more opinions on the flowers? Do you guys want me to put up a closer picture?

Each cake is separated by 2" right?

How do you do the stacking of the flowers?

The tiers appear to be 2" apart. the flowers can be made as a 5-petal flower, or a cherry blossom, apple blossom, or even a 4-petal pulled petal flower.

It won't be that noticable which ever you choose. They need to be gumpaste and wired to make the little clusters.

" Each cake is separated by 2" right?"

Not sure I'm with you on that one....... do you mean each tier is 2" smaller than the previous layer ?

there usually is a 2" gap on each layer, and the "stacking" of flowers can be achieved wiring and taping the flowers, or you could make a small mound out of fondant and strategically place the flowers on that...

The clusters would be added, after the cake is stacked. the little cluster can be inserted into a flower nail, or wrapped and inserted directly into the cake.

the top is most likely constructed on a styrofoam base to support the flowers in a rounded shape.

Hi,
I think you'd make the hydrangeas with gum paste, there is actually a cutter you could use, here's the link-

I would just put a mound of frosting on the top and glue them randomly around the mound.

Hope this is helpful

Are you texturing the ribbon or the cake? You can use a textured rolling pin or an impression mat.

It looks like the tiers are 6-8-10-14; just a guess.
