I heard that when and I am not sure of the colours but when you mix either blue or purpole with fondant it changes colour due to a reaction with the colour and the fondant. Has anyone ever made purple fondant and did this need this happen?

Using the color blue and/or purple can be a problem, in that those two colors tend to fade. lavender can turn a terrible grey.

Keeping it from the light helps, and some have found better results from Americolors.

I've used the Wilton colors for both blue and purple fondant. Both times it worked great, and it didn't change color. I haven't tried the Americolor yet, but I'm sure that it will work great too! thumbs_up.gif

I used violet yesterday and it kept wanting to go grey, but I kept poking it with red and it stayed a decent purple. It wasn't rich like I wanted, but okay. I would say to look at that nightmare pi cake, but the camera used for that was not a high quality and none of the colors are represented correctly. I used three different blues and it did okay. Cornflower blue not as well as the brighter one.
