am planning to make red roses with whipped cream iceing and just cant get the deep red I want is there anything I can do do my frosting red so I could make my red roses?

It helps if you start with pink before you add any red. On a practice cake i made it worked great. I asked recently about adding a touch or brown or black to make it deeper. I was told that will work as long as you dont add to much.
