I have always used Wilton colors when decorating. Mostly because it is what is readily available where I live and up until now I didn't need to buy as much. Now I'm finding that I'm running out of color much quicker and wilton only offers the one size unless you get multipacks which are even smaller. I recently bought an airbrush and I know that it requires different color as well. I guess I'm just trying to decide what the best deal is both price wise and quality wise so I can stock up.
TIA!!

Quality-wise, I think _Americolor_ colors are superior to Wilton colors. I made the switch about a year ago and love the _Americolors_.

I haven't really noticed a difference between the Kroma-Kolors and _Americolor_ airbrush colors, though. And I never compared prices so I don't know about that either. I'm interested in hearing others' experiences with the airbrush colors.

I also switched to Americolor and never looked back! I love how they come in squeeze bottles. So much easier!

I ran into the same problem a while back while searching for a deep red color and I went to my local ateco dealer. He said - and I dont know if its true or not - that the only color maker in the western hemisphere is ateco and they make spectrum. Then the other companies buy ateco/spectrum and dilute it and repackage to sell to consumers. The spectrum colors are awesome and you need little of them - even black or red all it takes is a small amount.

I buy spectrum and they come in HUGE sizes none of that silly wilton tiny round plastic things. He is very reputable and has been in business over 50 years, plus he sells to all the hot shots here in miami. He may be biased but he may have a point. You should maybe look into spectrum. I highly recommend them. HTH! Jackie

That is actually completely false, I don't normally disclose this, but Ateco Spectrum is made for Ateco by Americolor!!!

So your Ateco dealer is a fraud if he is really telling people that! thumbsdown.gif

I know that Americolor is made in the U.S. because they are down the street from my house. I drive by it almost every day.

Glad to know that Heath. It seemed odd to me that he would have said that, but I dont know about the industry so I listened and took it in. Thanks! Jackie

Definitely try Americolor, the colors are so much more vibrant and I actually find myself using less of the colorant to achieve the same color i would have with Wilton!

I use both. I do love some of the colors that Wilton has, like the garden colors, I find those so sophisticated! The Americolor are really "vibrant" as stated b4 and really easy to use bc they come in the squeeze bottle. So, I can go either way, depending. icon_smile.gif

ROFL tiptop!! I definitely don't miss those toothpicks, lol. This may sound like a cheesy infomercial, but after making the switch from wilton to americolor, there's no turning back for me.
