hi could someone please tell me how long does gum paste need to dry. i am trying to make a taco shell that was done by ginger. I made one on friday went to put the cake in and it broke. I need this cake for work tomorrow (birthday cake) is their anything i can do th harden the gumpaste up faster. thanks. I have the gumpaste taco shell draped
over a bowl, that way it will hold the shape, also I am using the soccerball cake pan maybe i should cut the cake alttle bit more. ok feeling bumed out this.
Gee, gumpaste should dry within 24 hours maximum unless it is a really huge thick sculpture. Always make an extra couple in case of breakage. Did you use actual gumpaste or are you just adding a hardening agent to your fondant? I am sorry, I don't understand your reference to the soccer ball pan and what you are asking.

Hi i used the gum paste mix (powder and add 1/4cup water)
it suppose to look like a taco shell, which it did when i went to place the cake insid ( i use the soccer ball pan) it fell apart.
i decieded not to go with the shell, instead i used real taco chips. what do u think about that thanks for replying.

Oh, ok, so the whole cake fit in the taco shell? The shell if probably too delicate to support the weight of it. Now I understand.
Are the taco chips sitting in buttercream icing? Sorry just trying to picture this. The chips would get mushy from aborbing the grease from the buttercream, wouldn't they?

no they are not sitting in buttercream, i just sat the cake around the chips.
do u think i should take them off and add them in the morning right before i give her the cake, we work 2gether
Trent, the cake looks great. It does not look like a volcano! (It was you on another thread saying a friend told you it looked like a volcano, wasn't it?) But I do think it would be a good idea to take the chips off and add them in the morning right before you deliver the cake. They might absorb the grease from the buttercream and look really nasty if they do.
I say, good job on the cake even if it wasn't what you were aiming for!

ok i took the chips off i will add them in th morning. thank you for the advice
