Okay, I posted on Thursday that my new (refurbished) KA pro 600 mixer arrived. I had ordered a Delonghi exclusivo (1100 watts!!) back in December and it kept being delayed so I ordered the KA. I was told through email that because of all the delays on the Delonghi they would need my approval prior to shipping or charging me. Well, I hadn't cancelled it and got an email today saying they charged me and shipped it!! Now, I know because of what they told me I could return it without a penny lost, but I really wanted the Delonghi all along.

So, now I have this Cayenne Red Kitchen Aid... If I return it to KA I lose $30 on the whole deal because they won't return my shipping in either direction. I really can't afford to keep both mixers. Should I try to sell it on amazon or ebay? I bought the pro 600 with pouring shield and it came to $284 Do you think I could re-coop the cost without losing the whole $30? Anyone interested icon_smile.gif ? This is such a weird pain in the butt! I was so annoyed all of January and February because my mixer wouldn't be delivered and now I have too many...

Any advice is so appreciated!

I would definitely trying selling it on Ebay and just put a reserve price on it so that you can at least try to get back your $$. You can always remove the reserve. HTH

I agree.. amazon or ebay, I have great success with both. I don't know if you would be able to get that price or not, just have to see.. they have some new ones on there too, depends on what people want to pay and if they want that color... don't forget to take it to the PO and get the price for shipping or at least the weight of the mixer because I have really shorted myself on shipping when selling stuff on ebay! Good luck!

My honest opinion is that people on eBay are looking for a deal, and I think you would lose at least $30 by selling it that way. Have you taken the KA out of the box and used it? People are going to want to spend no more than they would pay retail, (especially if it's used), including shipping. I would just take the $30 loss and enjoy my big new mixer. icon_smile.gif

Do you have a Craigslist in your area, or a local newspaper that runs free or cheap classified ads? It might be worth it to try to sell it locally rather than have to worry with shipping something that heavy. icon_smile.gif

To me, it would be worth 30 bucks just to have the situation resolved. I'd just send it back and be done with it.

I fully understand about not wanting to lose money...it can quickly add up. Another option would be to donate the KA mixer. (A church group, soup kitchen, or school would love it.) If you itemize deductions, you have the potential to right off the entire amount. You wouldn't see the deduction until next year, but you would eventually recoup the, and a charitable organization would benefit. Remember to save the receipts in the event of a future audit and ask a tax professional if you have any questions!

i've noticed sometimes on ebay, people get nutty outbidding each other and end up paying more than the retail price.

it always seems to be on something i want. HA!

i say worth a shot!

The only problem I see is someone paying $284 + shipping for a used mixer, but you never know. Also, you need to factor in your eBay fees (insertion & final value). So you would have to get $300 for you not to lose any money. If it were me, I would either keep it (since I often could use a second heavy-duty mixer) or just send it back and don't worry too much about the $30. Good luck and enjoy that new mixer icon_smile.gif

It's really a matter of whether or not $30 is worth the bother to you...If you're leaning towards putting it on ebay, I'd definitely put a reserve price on it,... and I too have seen MANY people bid WAY over retail value for something!
