Some put them on a toothpick and just work with it as a regular base and stick it into the cake with a toothpick when they're done. HTH. thumbs_up.gif

I usually break the kisses inserting the toothpick. I use waxed paper squares on the nail, put the kiss on the waxed paper with a dab of icing. then build the rose in the usual way. I have frozen them to make application to the cake easier.

Yep that's how you do it. I like it if you have to make a lot they're a little bit sturdier and chocolate kisses are uniform where as my frosting centers are all varied.

I've also heard of doing a rose, on a pretzel stick then you just stick the pretzel in the cake. Never done one but I have a book somewhere that described it. You can get bigger roses as you build on the length of the pretzel stick instead of just a circle.

What if you burned the toothpick?
