making a cake for a party, and the honoree does not like buttercream. I really want to try the stabilized whipped cream frosting recipe. My questions are: how well does it color? do I need to spread a thin layer of buttercream under the whipped cream to prevent it from seeping into the cake?
I originally thought to use the Wilton colormist, but I need some bright colors (fuscia, teal, lime green) to match the plates we'll be using, and it seems their color mist colors are basic. I've never used them before-can you overspray them to make different colors (ie, yellow over red to get orange)? I don't own an airbrush.
Sorry the image is so large-I tried to re-size it, but ...?
Thanks
LL

Hi. I have never iced with whipped cream but I have used Rich's bettercream and I found it difficult to achieve real dark colors.

Here's a bump, I'm sure someone will come along who can answer your question.

The thin layer of bc is a good idea. I don't think whip cream will make brilliant colors. I've done it, and it only got to the pastel level, but maybe someone else has a trick.
