This weekend i had a a lady and her daughter come to see me about the girl's 21st cake, and to sample some cupcakes. I made the samples, and when they left i was in cupcake mode, so i decorated almost all the cupcakes i had baked. That's practically all i did all day (Sunday). I was having bad decorating withdrawal symptoms because my full time job has taken up a lot of my spare time.
Anyway i just love making cupcakes!!!

I posted the pictures here last night, and got a lot of questions about them

I have updated the pictures with descriptions on how they were done.

I used the smallest of these cutters for the cupcakes that have tiny cut out blossoms
http://www.fullmoons-cauldron.co.uk/pmc%20pics/blossom%20cutters%20set%20of%203.jpg

For the pointed flowers, i used a cutter similar to this but with 6 petals

The tip in the middle is the one i used for the swirly cupcakes

I used these cutters to cut out the circles to fit on the top of the cupcakes. Because of all the different sizes, it was easy to find one that fit the cupcake perfectly.

Thanks guys. I've fixed up the links, they should all work now.

Mara, the cupcakes are mostly mudcakes and they just dont grow too much. With the buttercakes i just ensure that i dont overfill the patty so that they just grow up to the edge, or just under, it makes it easier to decorate. There are times where they will overflow and i just cut the tops off, but this batch was very well behaved icon_wink.gif

I always use an icecream scooper to fill the cups to keep them all portioned, and they do get a crown on them...and I have so many cupcake books that are so nicely decorated...like yours, and don't have the "mushroom" look!

I guess I will have to get a smaller scooper!

Thanks so much for your quick answer! thumbs_up.gif

I used to use a 1/4 cup to fill my cupcakes, and also had a tiny ladle. When i heard about the icecream scoop i bought one too, i tried that with these, it worked well for the mudcakes, but it would have been far too much batter for the buttercakes, since they grow so much more.
I just used a dessert spoon for those.
