You would think that I would know the answer to this question ...but anyway, how big exactly is a full sheet cake? Thanks!

Gee, I thought a sheet cake was a square or oblong cake of vaired sizes. I'd like to know this one too.

Here's what I go by:

1/4 sheet - 9"x13"
1/2 sheet - 11"x15" OR 12"x18"
full sheet - 18"x24" (2 lg half sheets together)

If I do an 11x15 size, I usually make it 3 thin layers, 12x18 I do 2 deep layers. (<--that's just how I do it, not sure if there's a 'norm'.)

Here you go! The standard is
9 x 13 is 1/4 sheet cake
12 x 18 is 1/2 sheet cake
two 12 x 18 are a full sheet cake
and a 11 x 13 is an 11 x 13 w/servings between the 9 x 13 and 12 x 18.

They are usually one layer 2 inches high.

The pieces are figured 2 x 2 pieces, but I like mine a little bigger. Hope this helps.

Well, First off I have found off of these boards, that the variations of sizes on a sheet cake tend to change region to region in the US and world. Some places only do 1/2 sheet and Full sheet cakes-however they may be the same sizes as a 1/4 and 1/2 in another part of the country. And some places even have 3/4 sheet cakes which are not common in other parts of the country

I would first suggest calling local bakeries and asking for dimensions on their cakes and what they offer. Don't be worried calling, many bakeries get these questions all the time.

Well said.... I gave up dealing with terms like half sheet and full sheet. I go by the size of the cake pans. And I will pull pans out so clients have an idea of the sizes. This way we are all on the same page and there is no room for confusion.

Size of the pan is safer and the servings vary depending on the size piece you want.
