Question About Kitchen Aid 6 Quart Mixer
Decorating By Cakeasyoulikeit Updated 4 Feb 2006 , 4:08am by golfgma
hi everyone,
I just got the 6 quart professional and I have a question for those of you that have and use one. Since there is no tilt head, how do you get the bowl in and out without making a mess or removing the beater piece everytime you want to check things mid mixing?? Or even at the end? Is there some trick to this?
Thanks!
Angela
I'm with cakeman66, I always have to remove the beater. At first I thought this mixer was a pain in the rear because I was used to the tilt, but I love it now. I use to like to lift the tilt up and down to check my icing consistency, now I just take the beater off, tilt the bowl forward and dip the beater in and out. Or I use a spatula. You'll just have to get used to it.
I have the 6 qt also it's the only one I've ever had so I dont know the convenience of the tilt. You cant miss what you never had, right
. I do the same thing I take off the beater off to check it.
I have the exact same mixer and you have to remove the beater attachment in order to remove your bowl. (not unless you want a mess) If you just want to scrape down the bowl or check it's consistency, just stop the mixer and lower the bowl!!!!! I even switch on and off real quick to move the paddle around if I need to!
I've had my mixer for four years and love the arm to raise and lower the bowl! I've never liked the tilt ones. I have had them fall down on me!!

Ditto, I just lower the bowl to check it. I have also had the tilt head version, but i like the bowl lift much better.
Ok, thanks for the responses. I just thought I must be missing something! I am sure I'll get used to it.
The other thing I wonder is if you guys have and use a pouring shield? My mixer was refurbished, so didn't come with one, and it looks like the sheild might be a good investment. I never really needed it with my 4.5 quart, but I think the wide bowl makes for more potential "sugar blowing". Am I right?
I use mine but only because I have had a couple of incidents where the sugar blows back up and all over the place. Although it does crack my daughter up I'd rather it not happen.
